You Spoke & We Listened: Helpful Resources for Sandy Springs Apartment Residents

During our first Sandy Springs Speaks event, we learned that many residents are unaware of the resources available right here in Sandy Springs to address some of the challenges they face.

In order to build a more equitable Sandy Springs, we must ensure that all residents have knowledge of and access to available resources. 

Below is a list of community organizations, government centers and nonprofits that provide assistance and resources to those in our community. 

Housing, Food and Needs-Based Assistance

Community Assistance Center: The Community Assistance Center provides assistance for a variety of needs, including utilities, food and clothing, education, career preparation and even tax preparation.

Mary Hall Freedom Village: The Mary Hall Freedom Village offers over 30 services to women, children, veterans and families, including housing assistance, child care, behavioral health and wellness services and career development help.

Ronald McDonald House: The Ronald McDonald House offers families of children receiving medical treatment in nearby hospitals a “home away from home” by providing housing, food assistance, group support and more services during their stay.

Second Helpings Atlanta: As part of their ongoing effort to reduce hunger and food waste in the Metro Atlanta area, Second Helpings Atlanta offers healthy and nutritious meals to those in need.

Solidarity Sandy Springs: Created in March of 2020, Solidarity Sandy Springs is a food pantry that provides food to families and individuals facing food insecurity.

U-Hope Community Development Center: U Hope CDC provides safe housing and life enrichment services to homeless men and veterans, ages 18 and up.

Education Focused Services

Sandy Springs Mission: Sandy Springs Mission is a faith-based nonprofit that provides year-round academic enrichment and skill development programs for Latino students in Sandy Springs. These programs prepare students for college and to enter the workforce.

Los Niños Primero:  Los Niños Primero provides Latino students and their families in Sandy Springs a variety of academic, leadership and family education programs.

Sandy Springs Education Force: Sandy Springs Education Force offers free supplemental programs to economically disadvantaged public school students to help them excel academically, graduate from high school and continue their education in college or enter the workforce.

Healthy Youth USA:  Healthy Youth USA offers after school clubs and summer programs for students.

Government Centers and Offices

Sandy Springs Code Enforcement: Sandy Springs Code Enforcement is a city department that works with residents and businesses to create healthy and safe living and working environments. 

North Fulton Service Center: The North Fulton Service Center provides health, mental health, dental, traveling nurse, housing, workforce and WIC service under one roof and houses a library, computer lab, community garden and the Grady Clinic.

Additional Services

Obtaining Business Licenses: All businesses located in the City of Sandy Springs are required to hold a valid Business Occupational Tax Certificate, often referred to as a business license, and pay Business Occupational Taxes. 

Link Counseling Center: The Link Counseling Center provides counseling, psychotherapy, group support and more for individuals and families seeking assistance.
